Montmorency Falls Cable Car, Suspension Bridge and Stairs

Montmorency Falls cable car tickets, the suspension bridge, the 487-step staircase, hours and parking: the park's rates and the ticket with the cable car (Oct 2026).

Updated October 2026

The suspension bridge, the 487-step staircase and the walks along the cliff come with the park’s daily access; the cable car is extra, C$14.95 a person for a round trip before tax at the 2026-2027 rate (Sépaq). The simplest way to have both is the park’s own ticket sold on GetYourGuide, which bundles the entry, the cable car up and down, parking at the cable car terminal and local taxes, from US$20 a person (checked October 2026), rated 4.6 from 2,908 reviews.

Rates from Sépaq’s rates page for the park, read on 30 October 2026; Sépaq adds tax and can change them without notice. The low-season fee is charged only on days the cable car and La Manufacture operate (19 December to 3 January, 6 February to 31 March); on no-service days there is no fee. Residents of the Québec metropolitan area pay no daily access with proof of residence, and other Québec residents pay a lower provincial rate (C$6.95 for an adult in season, C$5.21 in low season).

Entry is not free in season: an adult visitor from outside Québec pays C$13.90 a day before tax from 11 May to 1 November 2026, and under 18s enter free. So at the gate an adult in the summer season pays C$28.85 before tax for the entry and the cable car. The GetYourGuide ticket is the same entry and cable car with parking and tax included, priced in US dollars. Sépaq itself recommends buying the daily access online before you go, to speed up your arrival. The park is not a Québec national park, so the Parcs Québec annual card does not cover it.

The cable car

The cable car runs between La Manufacture, the information and service centre at the foot of the falls, and the top of the cliff near the Manoir Montmorency; Sépaq says the climb takes a few minutes, with the falls on one side and the St. Lawrence, Île d’Orléans and Québec City on the other. We measured its line at 412 m. The top station is not on the falls: from the Manoir a boardwalk, the Promenade de la Falaise, runs along the cliff to the suspension bridge, past La Baronne lookout. One guest who expected the cable car to reach the waterfall found the walk hard for an elderly parent, so plan for it.

In summer the line for the cable car is the thing guests warn about most: several wrote that it grows long by late morning and in the afternoon, and that arriving early helps.

The suspension bridge, the staircase and the foot of the falls

The suspension bridge crosses the river right above the falls, so you feel the water roaring under your feet (Sépaq). The panoramic staircase clings to the cliff on the east side with 487 steps and landings to rest on; at the bottom a concrete promontory takes the spray of the falls. Over the river at the foot, a long, wide footbridge has replaced the old railway crossing, with platforms on several levels for sitting and watching. Several guests describe the same loop: the cable car up, the suspension bridge across, and the staircase back down.

Hours from Sépaq’s schedule page for the park, read on 30 October 2026; in summer 2026 the cable car ran until 6:30 p.m. from 20 June to 16 August, and the 2027 summer hours were not yet posted. Montmorency Falls in winter has what stays open and what closes between November and March.

Getting there and parking

The main entrance is La Manufacture, 5300 Boulevard Sainte-Anne, at the foot of the falls, with parking lots P1 and P2; P3 is at the top near the Manoir, and P4 on the Boischatel side. Sépaq puts the park 15 minutes from Old Québec; we measured 13.8 km by road from the Château Frontenac to the foot of the falls.

By city bus, RTC’s Métrobus 800 runs from the D’Youville stop on Boulevard Honoré-Mercier, by Place D’Youville, past the Gare du Palais to its Chute-Montmorency terminus (RTC). Québec City’s tourism office suggests getting off at the des Rapides stop (3473) on Avenue Royale, a few minutes from the parking at the top of the falls. Sépaq also lists a Unitours shuttle from Old Québec, and the Corridor du Littoral bike path runs to the entrance; bicycles are not allowed in the cable car.

The zipline and the Manoir restaurant

Sépaq’s zipline is 300 m long, and a ride takes 30 to 45 minutes with the welcome and registration; you register on the Boischatel side 30 minutes before your departure. Riders must weigh between 41 kg (90 lb) and 100 kg (220 lb), and the limits can change with the weather. In 2026 it ran from 16 May to 12 October, every day from 20 June to 7 September and at weekends and on holiday Mondays otherwise, for C$33.50 an adult and C$25 a child on the double zipline, before tax; the 2027 dates were not posted on 30 October 2026.

At the top of the cliff, the Manoir Montmorency’s restaurant has a covered, heated terrace and a children’s menu; in 2026 it served lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., every day from 20 June to 12 October and at weekends and on holidays from 16 May. In winter the Manoir stays open with limited food, and the sandwich counter at La Manufacture, at the foot of the falls, opens on the days the cable car runs (Sépaq).
