The basilica lies up the north shore from the falls, facing Île d’Orléans across the river.

The Shrine

The Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine, at 10018 Avenue Royale, has been a place of pilgrimage dedicated to Saint Anne since 1658, and it keeps three notable relics of the saint (the Shrine). The site is accessible for people with reduced mobility. It is a working shrine with its own mass schedule, and the basilica’s hours change through the year; check the Shrine’s site schedule before a visit on your own.

On the half-day tour the basilica gets about 45 minutes, and the coach also stops for about 20 minutes at Albert Gilles’ copper art studio. In the newest 350 reviews of the tour, read on 30 October 2026, guests often name the basilica as the high point; some wanted more time there, and one guest found it closing as the group arrived.

The road from the falls

The Côte-de-Beaupré is the shore east of the falls. Sépaq describes it as a region of culture, heritage and nature along the Route de la Nouvelle-France, with about 200 km of trails for hikers. We measured 24.5 km by road from the foot of Montmorency Falls to the basilica, through L’Ange-Gardien and Château-Richer.
